This musical should not exist. Born of unspeakable tragedy, it delivered tremendous hope and healing to a world desperately in need of it. Come From Away is the true story of 38 passenger planes carrying 7,000 people, all planning to be anywhere in the world other than Gander, Newfoundland on September 11, 2001.
During the FAA airspace shutdown, Gander’s 10,000 residents proved that human kindness knows no bounds as they fed, housed and comforted their unexpected guests for 5 days on the rocky island of Newfoundland. Their homes, kitchens, churches, restaurants and bars were flung open, greeting them with, “Welcome to the Rock” for those who come from away. Nominated for numerous Tony and Grammy Awards among others, it contains mature themes of fear and death and some adult language.
Recommended acceptable for ages 13+.
COME FROM AWAY is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI. www.mtishows.com

Americana favorite Shakey Graves is bringing his Fondness, Etc. Tour to Montana in 2026 with concerts at The Wilma in Missoula on Friday, October 23, and The ELM in Bozeman on Saturday, October 24, with support from Wild Pink.
Blending folk, blues, rock, and a bit of outlaw spirit, Shakey Graves (Alejandro Rose-Garcia) has built a reputation for turning one-man-band ingenuity into full-scale, unforgettable live performances. What started with suitcase percussion and raw acoustic storytelling has evolved into a dynamic, genre-bending sound that still carries the grit and charm of his early days.
Breakout tracks like “Dearly Departed” and “Tomorrow” helped introduce his off-kilter songwriting to a wider audience, while newer material like “Ready or Not” (featuring Sierra Ferrell) shows his continued evolution as a songwriter. His brand new album and tour namesake Fondness, Etc. dropped on May 15, and we can’t wait to hear these new songs live.
Shakey has a long history of bringing standout performances to Montana, with past shows frequently selling out.

After years headlining comedy clubs, theaters, and major festivals across the globe, Kaszas continues to connect with audiences through his smart, laid-back style and effortlessly funny takes on everyday life.

The Airwaves Belonged to the People: WBCN and The American Revolution Screening
Missoula, Montana
Nov 5
The Airwaves Belonged to the People: WBCN and the American Revolution is coming to The Roxy Theater in Missoula, Montana, bringing audiences an extraordinary look at one of the most influential radio stations in American music history.
In the late 1960s, Boston's WBCN emerged as a groundbreaking underground radio station that gave a voice to a new generation of musicians, artists, activists, and independent thinkers. At a time when traditional radio largely followed rigid playlists and commercial expectations, WBCN did things differently, helping introduce audiences to new sounds, bold ideas, and some of the most recognizable names in rock & roll.
Featuring rare archival footage, photographs, and recordings of Bruce Springsteen, David Bowie, Patti Smith, Lou Reed, and many more, the documentary offers a remarkable glimpse into an era of musical discovery and cultural change. Among its highlights are Springsteen's first radio interview and live in-studio performance, capturing an early chapter in the career of one of rock music's biggest stars.
Directed by Bill Lichtenstein, The Airwaves Belonged to the People is more than a music documentary. It's a celebration of independent radio, creative freedom, and the extraordinary people who believed music could bring communities together and challenge the status quo.
Whether you're a lifelong classic rock fan, a music history enthusiast, or simply love a great documentary, this is a story worth experiencing on the big screen.

We are pleased to present the winner of our 2026 Juried Art Exhibition artist, Jennifer Baylis! Jennifer was selected as our Juror's Choice, meaning her work stood out amongst the rest as being especially unique and skilled. As a recipient of this award, Jennifer received the opportunity to have her own solo art show in our gallery.
This exhibition brings together three interconnected bodies of work exploring women, folklore, and the poetry of everyday experience. The women in these paintings inhabit moments of transition—quiet thresholds marked by vulnerability, strength, and transformation. Looking back at works painted before my mother’s death in April 2025, I now see these figures as sentinels along a path of change. In their quiet presence, they came to represent strength, perseverance, and the courage to move forward. In this past year following her death, I began experimenting more freely, creating a series that brings together women, bears, and Norwegian rosemaling, drawing from the folklore and folk art of my Scandinavian heritage. In the process, inherited symbols became something deeply personal, allowing me to create a mythology of my own—one that remains open to interpretation.
My still lifes turn toward the intimacy of ordinary things: fruit, light, color, and surface, inviting us to slow down and look closely. The glisten of an orange, the sheen of an eggplant, or the juiciness of a strawberry becomes an opportunity to find beauty and sensuality in the familiar. Across all three bodies of work, I explore the space between the observed and the imagined, the personal and the archetypal. Together, these paintings reflect the ways we move through change, carry what we inherit, and transform the everyday into something newly seen.
Jennifer Baylis currently works full time as an artist as a contemporary realist painter in Missoula, Montana. Creating work inspired by women’s inner emotional worlds and the beauty of everyday life, she strives to bring a painterly approach to the subject. She works primarily in alla prima methods, a Realism technique established and taught the early 20th century. She received her BA in Fine Art from UCLA in 1997, worked in art museums in California, and has shown her work both in California and Montana in group and solo shows.

Steel = strength and Magnolias = dignity... What fitting descriptors for the women of Chinquapin Parish, Louisiana—the true Steel Magnolias of the 1980s. Weekly visits to Truvy’s Beauty Salon provide a place to share their lives, loves (“If he’s trying to drive me crazy, it’s too late”), town gossip, and concerns for the health of M’Lynn’s daughter Shelby, a diabetic. Playwright Robert Harling wrote the story in 1987 as a loving tribute to his sister, Susan, who died from type 1 diabetes. The 1989 motion picture of the same name received numerous nominations and awards that delivered the comedy, the tragedy, and the testament to the shared bonds of female friendship. It’s so full of big hearts, bigger hair and razor-sharp Southern wit (“The nicest thing I can say about her is that her tattoos are spelled correctly”), you’ll want to schedule your next hair appointment and reserve your tickets right away!

Apr 3
The Missoula Symphony returns to the historic Wilma Theater for an evening of bold and innovative music featuring saxophonist Jon Armstrong.
This performance showcases Voluntary Breath, a genre-blending work that combines jazz, classical, and contemporary influences. Massive choruses, driving rhythms, and unforgettable melodies make Carmina Burana one of the most exhilarating works in the orchestral repertoire. The concert opens with Beethoven’s Leonore Overture No. 3, a brilliant and dramatic introduction that sets the stage for the monumental work that follows.
With the combined forces of orchestra, chorale, and soloists, this concert promises a breathtaking and unforgettable conclusion to the Masterworks season.
